Zigbee Network Topologies
Three network topologies are supported within the protocol, star, tree, and mesh.
The network is controlled by a single device called the Zigbee coordinator. All other end devices communicate directly with the coordinator, who is responsible for initiating and maintaining the end devices on the network.
The Zigbee coordinator is responsible for starting and setting key network parameters, however Zigbee routers move data and control traffic through the network based on a hierarchical routing strategy. Tree networks may employ beacon-oriented communication
The Zigbee coordinator is responsible for starting and setting key network parameters. The mesh topology enables full peer to peer communication, and currently does not employ beacon-orientated communication.
